In late 2020 I was at a community event in which one of the activities was doing a year-in-review art project. I started with a collage based on images from magazines that had some references to what I has been up to that year. But, I quickly found that this was not working for me. I looked at some of the work by other people at the event and realized that the ones that broke down the year by month were much more enjoyable and relatable than the others. After the event, I took a piece of Bristol Board and devised a way to have twelve equal parts, each a with circular windows for one month. I then searched to remember distinct things in each month and tried to depict them graphically. I liked the result so much that part way through 2021 I decided to make a new version, closer to the real time in which they occurred.

My 2020 in Review

My 2021 in Review
In 2022 I decided to make larger, independent drawings for each month, soon after it occurred. The larger size allowed me to reference more events, and develop a moods in a larger scale. The results are varied, with some tension changing between depicting events and feelings.
